Dear Gracewood Friends,
These days are strange and unknown. For some it’s business as usual, while for others, there can be heightened anxieties. As I watched on-line church last weekend, my pastor referenced Psalm 121:1-8…
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
I hope that we all can find comfort in God’s word as we work to maintain a responsible reaction to the day’s challenges.
Like the rest of Houston, and our country, we have been monitoring COVID-19. We are glad to report, as of today, no cases have been reported among our families and staff. The welfare of Gracewood families and staff is our utmost priority. Providing a safe environment for all is our number one concern and we are 100% committed to continue to provide much needed support to our families.
In response to the ever-changing events in Houston, we are observing the suggestions by the City of Houston, CDC, and Harris County Health Departments to help increase social distancing as guidelines for our response.
Following these leads, we have made the decision to close our campus to all nonessential visitors, including visits, tours, volunteer projects, etc…until April 10th. After that date, we will reassess campus needs.
What does that mean? Effective immediately:
- For our guests, we are asking that you please do not visit.
- At this time, we are not accepting clothing, furniture or household items.
- All unnecessary activities or programs will be rescheduled.
If you have any questions, please call us at 713-988-9757.
We are grateful for your support and concern for Gracewood and those who we continue to serve. We appreciate you joining with us in prayer as we look for guidance and reassurance in these uncertain times.
With the most thankful heart,
Jenny Rice Cotton
