Affectionately called “The Cookie Lady” by Gracewood staff and residents, Mrs. Martha Weibe was known for rallying her friends and family together to give back to their community. For years, Mrs. Martha and her friends collected and packaged their sweet treats together in order to deliver dozens of cookies to the families of Gracewood.
What began as the frugality and resourcefulness of a precious woman soon turned into an outpouring of donations from the assisted living community of Parkway Place in the form of cookies, clothes, and furniture for Gracewood families. When Mrs. Martha no longer needed her car for transportation, she graciously decided to donate it to a single mom at Gracewood. Her car empowered this mom to be able to keep a steady job and to safely transport her kids to/from school each day. It was such a blessing to her and her family!
“Mom’s generosity and involvement with Gracewood stemmed from her heart for children,” says her daughter, Karen. “She believed wholeheartedly in the mission of Gracewood and saw the huge impact they are making on families, giving these moms a chance to bounce back and support their sweet little ones.”
We are so deeply thankful for the love and generosity of friends like Mrs. Martha. Her life had a lasting impact on the ministry at Gracewood and her legacy of generosity will continue for years to come!
