How Our Journey Began

Gracewood’s residential program is modeled after the Family Care program at its sister agency, Texas Baptist Children’s Home. After land was donated and buildings were built Gracewood officially opened in March 2001, serving 12 single mothers and their children. In the years that followed, the need for these specialized services has become more apparent and we’ve continued to grow to meet that need. Current facilities can serve up to 15 families in residence and Gracewood has an ongoing wait list of single mothers who are waiting to get into the program.

Gracewood offers professional counseling and provides support to residents through the Hope for Families program. In 2014, this program expanded its services to include members of the local community. All counseling and parenting training is offered at no cost to the clients in order to meet the pressing needs of underserved children and families in the greater Houston area.

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
